Daylilies Blooming in June - Greensboro, NC

Daylilies have been blooming in the Triad area of NC for several weeks.  Some are along the road sides and considered a weed. There are are many cultivated in personal gardens or public gardens.  Both images taken with iPhone 6--edited in PSE 11.   The image on the left is a tiger lily with a double blossom  which I found in the First Presbyterian Cemetery  in downtown GSO.  The image on the right was taken at the Julie Luther Pure Energy Gym.  A vignette was appled to the left image.  I purposely took a vertical image on the right to show not only the close up but that it was part of a stand of lilies near the parking lot.

Asian Lily CU - Neighborhood

In May and June Asian lilies are in bloom in the Triad area of NC.  I captured thr images with my iPhone 6. - Camera+ app used and edited in PSE 11.   The image on the left was in a neighbor's yard and it was late evening.  It had just been purchanse by the owner and not very tall.  The one on the right were my lilies in bloom on a cloudy day. This was the 2nd year they bloomed.  I used the square more.to capture the image  I purposely did not try to make one blossom look bigger as the"rule of thirds"on the right which does have a vignette applied.   .

Bumblebee on Lavender Stalk - GHM

Bees love Lavender.  Getting one to pose is a problem. They are definitely on the move.  Then there is the delay shutter release with the digital cameras. This was as close as I could get and could not use macro mode in Camera+ as not enough hands to be able to focus. Did not want to get stung by a bee for "being in their face".  Taken with iPhone 6.  Cropped and highlights increased with PSE 11

Passion Flowers in the Neighborhood

One of my neighbors has the Passion Flower blooming now. It is a vine and should be planted with some type of support.   These neighbors are new and the blossoms are blooming helter-skelter in the previous owner's garden. The image on the left is of a single blossom CU which was taken late evening and has more blue cast than lavender I thought I saw.  The image on the right  I liked because the 3 blossoms were vertical and I included the buds. Images taken with iPhone 6. Camera+ app -macro mode for CU image..Edited with PSE11.
No major editing:. some increase in highlights, contrast, and I think minor vignette applied to both images.

Purple & Lime Green Coleus at Gym + Altered Art Image

One thing about an iPhone, it is usually always with you.  I was at the gym the other day and spotted this coleus with the lime green and purple colors.   I knew when I took the image I wanted to do something different with it as altered art.
I did crop the original image on the left to get the texture I wanted. I used the Camera+ macro setting which does also give you a limted depth of field. No additional edits.  Post editing I decided to use the color variatons in PSE 11.  I increased the red x4 and got a red/orange/yellow color.   Then I used the invert artistic filter which changed it to the blue and turquoise colors.  I increased the brightness and the contrast.  Some people have told me it looks psychedelic.  Hope I can go back with a designated macro lens and see what kind of detail I can get as there were other coleus plants in this planter.  I started an album in Facebook for Altered Art Photo Images. May eventually be able to use for digital collages.
